From the town that brought you the infamous Duke lacrosse scandal comes...Satanism!

Three individuals, two of whom hold high-level positions in the Durham County Democratic Party, were arrested on a series of charges including rape, sexual offense, kidnapping and assault with a deadly weapon.   As if allegations of this nature weren't serious enough, they are also accused of participating in a "Satanic ritual" in which a man was locked in a dog cage and brutalized.

While their lawyer maintains that it was "sadomasochism or some kind of consensual activity that maybe went too far," leaders of the Church of Satan want to clear things up.  "I'm reading it as a MySpace hookup gone wrong," one leader stated, wanting to distance the religion from illegal activities.
