My own personal struggle with Halloween costumes is really more of an epic battle. My freshman and sophomore roommate and I have a dedicated following of admirers for our graphicly gory getups (vampire and zombie) and unique ideas (black dahlia and helen jewett) because we are firm believers in the concept of a truly terrifying Halloween. Most college kids opt for the humorous in their costumes, and thats equally great, so we had to blend the two this year. That being said, we suddenly needed props and actual costume materials so we made our annual trip to the Halloween Costuming store that Im sure you all are more than aware of on 11th between Broadway and 4th Avenue - literally a block of Halloween that even seeps underground in a second floor. We usually make the mistake of waiting til the last minute to head over there and have to wait in line just to get in and then push through hundreds of people to manage what we need, but this year we went over a week in advance! From what I overheard, it seems like a lot of people are sticking to traditional, dependable costumes like fairies and Frankenstein but Im wondering what the big College Costume is going to be this year...
