Highbrow Promos Make Alcoholism Classy

Shia LeBeouf may have just been arrested for a DUI, but that doesn't stop us from finding ways to promote the finer points of alcohol. In recent years, producers of alcoholic beverages have done everything from sponsoring cultural events to producing limited edition bottles for a cause. Take a look at some reasons why taking a dip into lush haven might not be so bad.

5. Alcohol Bottles Are Now Considered Art

1800 Tequila is launching a series of limited edition art bottles for the essential 1800 promotion. All of the bottle designs were created by respected artists across the nation and around the globe. If you purchase a bottle it won't only be a means for drunkeness -- it serves as a work of art as well.

4. Alcohol As The New Accessory

Swedish Vodka brand Absolut is not only known by its brand name and smooth taste; its bottle is a cultural icon. In 1985, pop art legend Andy Warhol was commissioned to prepare art work for Absolut Vodka advertising, since then Absolut has formed an inextricable link with art and fashion. Today, Absolut creates everything from Absolut specialized gift packs, like Absolut Bling-Bling and Absolut Disco, to special bottles to benefit a cause (Absolut New Orleans and the Absolut gay pride bottle).

3. Pink Is The New Vodka

P.I.N.K vodka is a premium brand in a light pink bottle, infused with caffeine and guarana for an extra punch. P.I.N.K is not the only brand to "feminize" its coloring, some brands even go as far as coloring the liquor. In an effort to remove the harshness of the clear Vodka devil, it was clever of the Vodka makers to cater to our eyes and taste buds with the new less coarse version.

2. Drinking is a Fashion Statement

Belvedere Vodka ads starring Brown Bunny actor Vincent Gallo prove one thing in the aesthetics: drinking equals high class style.

1. Extreme Beers, Bringing a Wine Tasting Feel to the Beer Drinker

Time.com recently reported on the increased popularity of high-alcohol brews and the new face of the beer drinking culture. These highly concentrated beers, called big or extreme beers, have some brewers holding beer tastings with premium beer topped with a dollop of ice cream in champagne flutes.
