Slain Resident Was Northeastern Student

Authorities revealed today that the Mission Hill resident found dead yesterday was in fact Northeastern student Rebecca Payne. Our prayers go out to her family and friends.

It's with a heavy heart that a post like this goes up.Turns out the Mission Hill resident that was found shot dead yesterday was indeed a Northeastern Student: Rebecca Payne. This was heavily rumored yesterday when police found her blue Mini Cooper outside the apartment with an NU decal on the back, but alas, confirmed today.
How surprising is this? Mission Hill has its fair share of drunk, rowdy college kids -- but homicide? This looks like homicide #24 for Boston this year.
This Globe story doesn't have a whole lot, but it answers some questions.
It doesn't answer this though: Why would you shoot someone twice in the legs and once in the chest. Sheesh.
