Chaos in the Streets, Eugene-Style
Sections of the University of Oregon campus were blocked off on Monday, August 13th, as Eugene police were attempting to track down a man who had assaulted a Sheriff's Deputy. Apparently the man had refused to pull his car over earlier in the night, instead choosing to evade the police. The driver eventually jumped out of the vehicle and bolted, leaving two others in the car to answer to the cops.

When a Sheriff's Deputy spotted the man later on in the night, he punched the officer and took off once again. You've gotta wonder why this whole thing started, if this guy is willing to go through all of this to avoid being pulled over. One of the passengers was pretty tanked, but no word yet on whether or not the driver was drunk as well.

In Eugene, we're used to meth heads jacking bikes and bums going to extreme measures to steal your empty beer can supply (so they can exchange them for ones with beer inside them).  But these sort of stories are the closest thing we get to an episode of Cops -- and maybe that's not such a bad thing after all.
