It’s mid-September, arguably one of the best times to live in Isla Vista. The sun’s still shining, the water is pretty damn warm, and we got about two weeks before school starts. Forget about back-to-school shopping, last minute class sign-ups…you should have one burning concern, and I’m not talking about your gonorrhea.

Picking a Halloween costume. Actually, six costumes. Here is Part One of our Sep. costume series.

Children’s Costumes: Almost as cost-saving as child labor!

1) Pick a thrift store; Alpha Thrift downtown and United Family on Hollister are recommended.
2) Find a costume designed for kids, i.e. Raggedy Ann, Care Bears, etc. If you are a guy, find the most feminine costume possible.
3) Find expert seamstress to modify costume. Usually, most full-body costumes can be turned into a vest, and most hoods will fit adults (see Fig. A).

For about twenty bucks, you now have a memorable and ironic costume. Once again, it seems that the child is father to the man.
