Exposed: Girl Talk to Headline Fall Hip-Hop Show
Say there, Jumbos, what are you doing on November 15, 2007? If you answered "going to see mashup DJ du jour Girl Talk and gangsta-violinists Nuttin' But Stringz melt your face with heavy bass in Dewick," then you're right! That's right, Tuftonians, thanks some serious sleuthing on my part, I'm proud to bring you the cold hard facts about the Fall Hip-Hop show. Take that, The Daily.

Anyway, for those of you who aren't boys clad in skinny jeans and high tops, girls bedazzled in metallic lamé, or if you're simply woefully uninformed about modern music, then you're in for a real treat. Gregg Gillis, the mastermind behind Girl Talk, turns Top 40 hits, classic rock anthems, hip-hop club bangers, and more into a delightful pastiche guaranteed to get your booty a-shakin'. Bring your dancin' shoes and a healthy sense of irony, Jumbos; you're going to need them.

The ****ing guy is from Pittsburgh and he plays at Tufts, but not here at Penn State. Makes sense to me. God our music scene is lame. Posted 10/24/2007 4:16 PMReply

@ ha-mace: To be fair, I believe Tufts is paying him somewhere in the region of $10,000. He'll be around to play Pittsburgh sometime soon, I'd reckon. Posted 10/24/2007 4:26 PMReply

Oh, he plays in Pittsburgh all the time I think, but State College (home of Penn State) is about 3 hours from there. Plus it's Pittsburgh, who wants to be there. You'd just think he'd come here once in a while. Although, $10,000? **** that, he's not that good. Posted 10/24/2007 4:35 PMReply

@ ha-mace: The girls who run Concert Board aren't too smart. Also, they use this grease ball agent who is totally out of touch with popular music and what musicians are typically paid. I'm glad that Gregg Gillis is squeezing 10K out of these idiots. Besides, that pony-tailed douche of an agent is getting like $1,000 for just handling contracts easily handled by students themselves. Posted 10/24/2007 5:11 PMReply
