As expected, seniors are not pleased with the let-down announcement of Mayor Daley as a graduation speaker. There are already over 200 comments on The Daily's article, of which only a handful are even remotely positive. Luckily for you, I read through every last one (including comments on Rumor Royalty and North By Northwestern - you're welcome) so you wouldn't have to. The highlights:

- Angry seniors fall into two categories mainly: some are livid because of Daley's corrupt practices and questionable societal contributions, but most are livid because Bienen's comments to the Daily were misleading and ultimately setting us up for disappointment.

- People are claiming that they will never donate to the school again and had their parents known who the speaker was, they would have made alternative plans. I can't help but agree with "ME!!" who writes "if they had known some 'rando' is speaking at commencement sooner they would not have attended your college graduation? Stop being so dramatic."

- A student who emailed President Bienen received a less-than-polite email back, which calls the student "unhappy" and "immature" and says, "By the way that you think a commencement speaker has any thing to do with national stature of Northwestern tells me we failed here in educating you." Harsh words, Bienen.

- There are several comments saying they should have let A&O book the grad speaker. Agreed.

- Then it just breaks down to a comment war over whether people have a right to be complaining and whether or not the email from Bienen is real. The fact that students are mad apparently makes us "a bunch of spoiled rich kids." If I want to cry into my pillows made of pure gold, I'm going to.

Long story short: Everyone's pissed, Bienen writes d-bag emails, and alums are embarrassed by us. What else is new? For once, I may agree with Rumor Royalty - gigantic kegger on Deering instead?
