Lambda Phi Epsilon Hazing: Is No One More Concerned?
In "The Weekly" on Thursday, there was a huge article about a hazing pseudo-scandal in Lambda Phi Epsilon, one of Northwestern's historically Asian frats. And I mean huge - a couple pages, at least - detailing pretty heinous hazing practices. So heinous that the Daily online disabled comment-posting on the article, citing the "sensitive nature" of the article.

I had never heard about this before and am surprised to not hear any more about it now, four days after the story broke. Insert your own Asian stereotype here, but isn't anyone else at least a little concerned or surprised by this story? Maybe other recent stories about hazing on other campuses have overshadowed this story, but you'd think there'd be a little more interest in it, as it were.

According to sources, Lambda Phi Epsilon is super serious about their no-drinking-alcohol-during-pledging rule, which lends itself quite conveniently to drinking unbelievable amounts of ketchup and tobasco sauce instead. Even though quotes in the article claim that the pledging is meant to bring the brothers closer together, something tells me if most years half of your pledges drop and all of your thirteen pledges drop out this year, maybe you should rethink your pledging/initiating policies.
