Newsflash: Asian A Cappella!

Newsflash: Asian A Cappella!
A visual too obvious to ignore.

There's probably a billion a cappella groups on campus. Purple Haze. X Factors. The Undertones. Freshman 15. Significant Others. To name a few.

However, on perusing upcoming Facebook events, there seems to be auditions coming up for a group seemingly so elite and indie that no one has ever heard of them. The Treblemakers: an Asian-themed a cappella group.

Despite having the most awful, ridiculously stereotypical a cappella group name in the history of a cappella groups, they claim to sing "everything from contemporary American pop to Asian pop and vocal jazz, with a focus on Chinese/Taiwanese music."

So... Nintendo theme songs?

Wow...they might as well start making a cappella groups for all nationalites. Irish a cappella anyone? =)

So are they going to turn down people that aren't Asian?

no we just enjoy singing whatever that catches our attention. we are an acappella group that sings Asian music, specifically chinese, but to appeal to our audience at Northwestern we sing music in English as well. we do not turn down people that aren't Asian, in fact we welcome them to join especially if they are interested in Asian genres of music. and not that you care, but for your information no one has heard of us because we were a relatively new group, and by no means elite. and of course for someone that knows nothing much about asian music the only suggestion you could come up with is nintendo music, which by the way the acappella group Undefined at U Wisconsin has already done.
