No More Lawyer = No More Lawsuits?

No More Lawyer = No More Lawsuits?

Last week, ASG President Jon Webber decided against renewing the contract of the ASG lawyer because the amount of people using the service was not really worth how much they were paying for the service.

While the lawyer is a good idea in theory, the fact that she could not offer advice on anything related to the university, university police, or other Northwestern students rendered her pretty useless except in dealing with landlord issues. Not to mention that the lawyer was costing $35,000 of ASG's $68,000 to employ (a whopping 51% of their budget! Thanks, basic arithmetic.)

Finally, a pretty smooth move made by ASG. Although the Daily article says that Webber made the decision on his own and then told ASG later. Who knew he was allowed to do that?
