Northwestern University Student Reported Missing

Campus police announced today that a Northwestern student has been missing since last Wednesday.

Trevor J. Boehm was reported missing when his parents came to the school for Parents’ Weekend this weekend and he couldn’t be found.

An alert on Northwestern’s website gives the details:

Trevor J. Boehm, 20, a freshman in the School of Communication from Monument, Col., has not been in his residence hall and has not attended classes or used his student ID card in the dining halls since last Wednesday, police said. University Police have been investigating his disappearance since he was first reported missing on Sunday, but have not turned up any leads. A missing person report has been filed with a national police database and the Evanston Police Department is assisting University Police in the investigation.

Boehm is described as a white male, 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing approximately 145 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. He has a small birthmark on his right forearm.

Boehm’s bicycle, a green Schwinn with oversized tires and oversized seat, also is missing.

Anyone with information that may help locate Boehm should contact Northwestern University Police at 847-491-3254.

OTR is wishing for Trevor's speedy and safe return.

Why is no one paying attention to the media and stories regarding all of the young college men that have disappeared in the midwest, its always the bright young men that happen to get separated from their friends during an outing? This concerns me that with all of the media tools, with technology, some strong stories could go out on the seriousness of these good students disappearing, the first stories coming out are always so passive, CNN didn't even have this story yet. Let the nation pray that this will be a success story and this young man is found safe. Posted 11/12/2008 10:02 PMReply

Yes, it does seem to be a trend that white male college students are disappearing here and there in the Midwest. We live outside Chicago; I have a son at NU who is well aware of the high crime rate in Evanston - something that NU is constantly trying to cover up. Parents weekend started on Saturday -- what TOOK SO LONG for campus police and Evanston Police to GET GOING? Trevor's parents came in from out of state to see him! Posted 11/13/2008 10:42 AMReply

No kidding - what did take so long!! As a NU parent, this is sooo sad and so disturbing to know how the University Police were dealing with it - slowly. I just hope all will turn out, but I am so afraid. My heart goes out to Trevor's parents! Posted 11/13/2008 5:01 PMReply

I've been thinking the same thing for the last 4-5 years. There has been a trend of missing college students (males) from Minnesota down to Chicago. They all have seemed to fit a similar profile. There is something going on here that the media, local police and FBI aren't addressing. I sure hope this guy turns up okay. I almost wish I could work with more tools to put my hypothesis in to action. Posted 11/13/2008 10:44 PMReply

Young white males have a high suicide rate. Posted 11/15/2008 10:10 AMReply

Yes it looks like a suicide. Trevor left NU last year due to emotional problems (probably depression). My heart breaks for his parents and family - he had so much going for him and completely cut himself off from those who could help him. I'm very surprised NU didn't offer him more help when he returned...at the very least not letting him have a single room. Posted 11/16/2008 10:36 AMReply
