I know McCain is old, but has he already forgotten how to count?
In an interview yesterday, the presidential hopeful was asked how many houses he owned and McCain told the reporter he’d have to get back him on that one.
Poor, poor Johnny (though obviously that's not poor as in financially). Obama pounced on the slip-up today, noting that McCain has an estimated SEVEN houses. Though, to be fair, he only lives in about four of them (the rest are investments) and maybe he really just doesn’t remember. That tends to happen with age.
But thus began the war of who is more elitist than whom.
A Washington Post blog reported that McCain’s spokesman eloquently shot back, "We're delighted to have a real estate debate with Barack Obama. It's a frickin' mansion. He doesn't tell people that. You have a mansion you bought in a shady deal with a convicted felon."
Continuing on his mature rant, the spokesman said, “In terms of who's an elitist, I think people have made a judgment that John McCain is not an arugula-eating, pointy headed professor-type based on his life story."
Hey, now. Obama may have taught at the University of Chicago and he may have made some comment about the price of arugula at Whole Foods, but he does not have a pointy head.
His head is perfectly round, thank you very much.
