The Blacker the Berry, the Sweeter the Juice...

The Blacker the Berry, the Sweeter the Juice...
Pendarvis Harshaw, HU sophmore Telecommunications Management major, is at it again- making moves and capturing it on film.

Launched in 2005, the Campaign for Black Men and Boys not only researches the struggles and disadvantages that African American males face, but exposes the positive Black men serving as outstanding models for future generations.

The Campaigns' name is taken from the question the foundation posed: "What could we do as a society to improve the life of a Black boy born in 2007 so that by the time he was eighteen his odds for success were significantly greater?"

With this insightful question and the Campaigns' mission, to "collaboratively develop and implement an initiative for the educational, social, emotional, physical, spiritual, political and economic development and empowerment of African descendant men and boys in the United States", Harshaw ventured throughout campus to film male students views on mentoring and life lessons.

Freshman, Jeremy Johnson felt that love versus hate is what black men and boys need to focus on. "If he fails to love, he will fail himself and his family", said Johnson. "His family is his future; he's not living for himself, he's living for everybody that comes after him."
