Whitney Pavlik was named the 2008 womens' AVP Rookie of the Year last night. She is an alum of UCI and is making big things happen on the sand all around the world.
Pavlik placed in the Top 10 in 10 of the 15 tournaments she participated in, finishing a career best fifth in the Boulder, Colo. tournament.
Pavlik, who played at UC Irvine in 2004 and 2005, transferred from the University of Montana and started as an outside hitter as a junior. She moved to the middle blocker's position as a senior and excelled, earning All-Big West first-team honors after posting 93 total blocks and 277 kills.
Currently, Pavlik can be seen on "Karch's Khronicles" on FOX SPORTS WEST and PRIME TICKET, hosted by Olympic Gold medalist Karch Kiraly. Pavlik, along with former Anteaters Ashlie Hain and Kelly Wing demonstrate drills as Kiraly explains offensive systems, defensive coverage and coaching strategies.
She is more than welcome to teach some offensive strategies to us over here. Damn....
