Dartmouth Celebrates Asian Pacific American Heritage Month
Anna Hui, the Associate Deputy Secretary of Labor under U.S. Secretary of Labor Elaine Chao, spoke today at the Rockefeller Center about her experiences at the Department of Labor and as one of the few Asian American women in government. The lecture was in celebration of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month in May and co-sponsored by the Dartmouth Chinese Culture Society, COSO, and the Rockefeller Center.

The event was well attended by students from all backgrounds and ethnicities.

As the Associate Deputy Secretary of Labor, Hui oversees outreach efforts to the Asian Pacific American as well as other communities. She has served in this role since April 2004, advising on a wide range of Department programs, policies, internships and events. She has also served as senior legal counsel in the State of Illinois Office located in Washington, D.C., and has coordinated the public relations efforts for one of the largest non-profit health care systems in New Jersey. An immigrant to the US at age one, Ms. Hui is a proud American of Chinese descent and a native of Illinois.
