Official OTR Rules: Beer Guy

It is about time we, as an OSU community, decide on the final rules for drinking games. Anyone else annoyed with going to a house party, sitting down to play a game, and spending fifteen minutes figuring out the rules to go by? I shall be your savior. This week I chronicle "Beer Guy", possibly the best drinking game there is. If you'd like to add rules or suggestions, feel free to comment.

Name: Beer Guy

Alternate Names: Beer Die, Gentleman's Game

Required Equipment: Table, 4 Cups, 1 Die, Tape

Number of People: 4 (2 teams of 2)

Setup: Place the tape across the middle of the table. Set the cups up on the corners of the table. Fill each cup full of beer and have the 4 people sit at the corners.

Play:
  • The game is much like tennis.
  • Shots alternate between teams and players.
  • The goal is to throw the ball up in the air almost hitting the ceiling and have it come down on the other team's side of the table.
  • The other team must catch the die with one hand before it hits the floor and after it is clear of the table. The catcher can only use one hand and cannot use their body. If the catcher uses two hands, their body or it hits the floor, the other team is awarded a point and the catching team must chug some beer.
  • If the die lands in one of the cups, it is a point and the beer must be completely chugged.
  • If the die lands on the wrong side of the table on the throw, no points awarded and the other team shoots.
  • If the die lands on the right side of the table and doesn't go off the table, it is a point for the throwing team. If the die landed as a 5, the whole beer must be chugged.

Game Over When: 11 Points Scored

Special Rule: Timeout is called when a cup is placed in center of person's side. If a die is thrown when a team is not ready or timeout is called, that team's turn is lost. This is why it is sometimes referred to as a "Gentleman's Game".
