Name: Kosta Koufos, #31
Hometown: Canton, Ohio
Year: Freshman
Position: Power Forward/Center
Bio: Kosta Koufos is generally associated with the Greek team, but he was born in Canton, Ohio and went to Glen Oak High School. In 2007 he played for the Greek National team in the U18 league and dominated. His performance helped take the spotlight from some freshman stars and give him credit. Koufos earned the MVP of the tournament.
Coming into OSU as a freshman in 2007, much was expected. Kosta's job was to replace Greg Oden, which is no small feat. Kosta is a completely different type of player, however. At 7'1", Kosta is a perimeter player a la Dirk Nowitzki.
Kosta should not be at Ohio State for long. He did turn down a 3 year, $5 million offer from a Greek team, but that was to get in the NBA quicker, not OSU. Kosta is projected as a lottery pick whenever he comes out, which could be in 2008.
