With the exception of one minor recruit, the recruiting season is essentially over. 2008 was a good year and Ohio State racked in one of the top recruiting classes of the country.
Is it too early to look ahead to next year's crop? Not really.
Tressel is already pulling in some top talent with verbal commitments from next year's recruiting class. He has racked in 6 ESPN 150 recruits already and The Vest doesn't look like he's done yet.
Earlier today during the OSU-Indiana basketball game, CJ Barnett committed to play for OSU in 2009. CJ plays corner and will look to take over for Malcolm Jenkins and Donald Washington when they leave.
Ross Homan will have family in town in 2009 as his brother, Adam Homan, has committed already to the Bucks. Homan is a beast and could play any of the front 7 on defense or even fullback.
Potentially playing in that front 7 with Homan is Storm Klein. On top of having a sweet name, Storm also is huge and able to run a 4.5 40. He plays running back and linebacker, a position that will be tough to gain a lead role in at OSU.
To add to the growing Ginger population is Jack Mewhort. Mewhort plays center and is a stifling 6'6" and 285 lbs. as a junior. He needs to bulk up a little bit, but he certainly has some time.
John Simon could see the field early in 2009. Simon plays defensive line, a position that should be weak in the coming years. With a strong work ethic, he could end up like Cameron Heyward this year.
Jordan Whiting adds another highly-touted middle linebacker to Tressel's long list. A Kentucky Recruit, Whiting has been a devoted Buckeye since he received an offer.
