-Screw books
Many classes, as you may have noticed, have "required" books that you end up using once and the rest of the material is on slides or covered in lecture. Why spend $100+ on a book you only use once? Check out the appropriate library first. Most books will be there and you can check most out for two hours at a time.
-Pay less for more
Many places offer food that may not be fine cuisine, but it fills you up for a very low price. Pizza Pan offers a buy one get two free deal. Three sheets of Pizza Pan will be enough to feed an army and for only $29.95.
-Get drunk during the week
Looking to bar hop? Most bars don't offer many drink specials on the weekend for obvious reasons. During the week (Monday-Thursday) almost all bars have specials. If you are bar hopping on the weekends, I would suggest McFadden's happy hours (just listen for other people saying who the host is) or going out before 8 PM. Most drink specials end around 7 or 8.
-Hold off on paying for cable/internet
Many college kids make the mistake of arranging to have cable and internet available before they move in. The fact is that Time Warner and WOW are so overworked that sometimes they do not deactivate cable service to some apartments. As for internet, some users do not apply a password. The signal strength may be low, but you can improve that with these steps.
-Giant Eagle gas cash
Planning on buying anything at Best Buy, iTunes or Old Navy? Purchase gift cards at Giant Eagle and earn fuel perks to help save money on gas. Every $50 purchase saves you 10 cents per gallon.
-Cheap contraception
Tired of paying a lot of money to shoot your happy juice? Instead of switching to the pull-out method, try buying cheaper raincoats. Ohio State sponsors Condom Club, your saving grace. OSU students can buy 5 bags of condoms for $5 per day.
-Letters home
Make sure to write letters home. Mother's Day is approaching. Maybe at the tail end of the card ask for some cash. It's worth a try.
