SuperBad: Aptly Titled

"Powered by a comedy dream team, this shitfaced American Graffiti dares to show it has a heart. So step up for Superbad, and find your inner McLovin." --Rolling Stone.
Comedy dream team? Just because these people appear in almost every one of Judd Apatow's earlier works doesn't make this a dream team. For instance, Seth Rogen is an amazing actor; the problem is that he appears in everything Apatow does. Hell, half of Rogen's credits on IMDB are with Apatow.

But besides having to deal with watching the recurring B-List cast, the viewer is subjected to the same humor and delivery. Most of the jokes in the film are simply juvenile penis and vagina jokes over and over again. Other jokes just fail to impress or go too far, like when Jonah Hill's character Seth goes into the grocery store and has several daydreams; it gets old. Other than that, almost all of the jokes are delivered by Hill screaming, yelling or complaining.

Many critics are proclaiming this the best teen comedy in a long time and the best of the summer. That is amazing, since it isn't even Apatow's best work this summer (Knocked Up takes that honor). SuperBad simply does not measure up to movies like Dazed and Confused or Fast Times at Ridgemont High.

Rating: 7 / 10 for some really good laughs, but the same delivery over and over again.
(Special props go to Mintz-Plasse for his first role and a very memorable one as McLovin.)
