Does anyone know how many applications Ohio Wesleyan received for the class of 2012? Last year's number was 4000 according to IPED but everytime anyone asks Hillary Lowbridge or Dana Behum from the Admissions Office about the number this year and they can't give a straight answer or respond with "more than we received 3 years ago which was less than 2 years ago and the square root probability having less than this year"....the office should have more accountability for its work I think! It seems like the office is deliberately hiding an easy number to compute so that students can not track what is going on with applications, our selectivity as a college. For example, Denison, Oberlin and Kenyon have seen a drastic decrease in their admit rates. This begs the question are we the only college from that group that doesn't?
One an interesting note, another blogger from here computer a measure "College popularity: number of applications per enrollee". It is supposed to capture college popularity better than the conventional yield rate. Here is what the list with number from IPEDS for 2007 looks like:

The reasoning behind this being a better measure than the yield is that the yield is affected by too many other factors such as competition, ED games, special interests such as religion, finances, and so on. Yield results in very weird ranking.
Based on yield, Brigham Young, Yeshiva, Thomas Aquinas, Principia, Texas A&M, VMI are among the top 20 schools in the country.
