Mackey Madness was a great way to kick off the 2008-09 men’s and women’s basketball season, as well as a great way to pack the arena for the woman’s big volleyball match up with Big Ten rival Wisconsin.

Students, staff, and any other fans could come and have a meet and greet with members of both basketball teams, followed by the volleyball match, then the formal introduction of the basketball teams, free of charge. After the intros, both basketball teams competed in a 3-point contest, scrimmage, and the men also did a dunk contest.

Cameras from the Big Ten Network were filming live during segments throughout the night as well. Even Bruce, the Piano Man from the Neon Cactus made a brief appearance to pump the crowd up. All-in-all, Mackey Madness was a success, and the big nail biting volleyball win was nice too!
