Meghan McCain at Ohio Wesleyan University

Meghan McCain at Ohio Wesleyan University

According to the New York Times Meghan McCain, is heading to Ohio this weekend. Apparently Meghan decided one of her stops to be Ohio Wesleyan University! At Wesleyan,  she will help register voters on Saturday. She will also visit Lewis Center in Columbus and attend a rally in Sunbury.

Ms. McCain has been a fixture on the campaign trail but more quiet in her involvement. Not surprisingly she will be spending a lot of time in collegetowns around Ohio.

Columbus and the Central Ohio area is awash in young voters. This is a reflection of the changing demographics of this particular part of the state. Three college campuses -- Ohio State University, Ohio Wesleyan University and Mount Vernon Nazarene University -- were abuzz with political energy in recent political visits.

The major Columbus newspaper, The Columbus Dispatch, however, speculated that while "it is unclear whether the fickle and unreliable youth vote will play a decisive role in this year's election", it certainly will play a decisive role in Delaware County, the home of Ohio Wesleyan.

This is what the Dispatch had to say about the Ohio Wesleyan campus:

"Ohio Wesleyan, a Delaware liberal-arts college, is somewhat of an island of liberalism in otherwise conservative Delaware County. Its student center advertises an Obama early-voting kickoff with Seth MacFarlane, the 34-year-old creator of the popular animated comedy Family Guy. There are no signs for McCain events.

Here, students are likely to sneer at Palin and hail Obama as the second coming of John F. Kennedy. I think it's a fact that everybody wants to see change occur," said Lauren Ailes, 18, a freshman pre-med and Spanish major from Reynoldsburg. McCain, she said, hasn't inspired voters and Palin has turned them off."

The Dispatch happens to portray accurately the OWU students' sentiments this time.
