Does Ohio Export its best students? According to the Cincinnati Enquirer the answer is yes. Nearly 47 percent of the Cincinnati area's top seniors - as defined by their high schools - have committed to colleges outside the state, while 53 percent are staying in Ohio, according to an informal Enquirer survey. The major reasons for this new trend is differences in what colleges can offer in terms of cost and career pathways.

 

Data for the past 10 years though still lits Ohio in the Middle of the pack. Pennsylvania is the largest net importer of college students. New Jersey the largest net exporter. Here are the largest importers and exporters. Ohio is not a particularly large exporter of college students as a percentage of high school graduates. It turns out It's middle of the pack.
