An Act Of Racism Or An Act Of Free Speech?

An Act Of Racism Or An Act Of Free Speech?

The town of Pittston, Pennsylvania has been buzzing this past week about a story that has garnered national attention.

In Pittston, which is a town 130 miles from Penn State, a man decided to place a large decal on the back window of his truck saying "If you're in America and can't speak English, get the f#$* out!".

A complaint has been filed against the man and he has been ordered to pay a $53 fine for the public use of profanity. The man plans to appeal the fine and defends his case by saying it is an act of free speech. An ACLU attorney is defending the man and also says it is an exercise of free speech.

While people are getting upset about the use of profanity, some are missing the fact that this is an act of racism. Northeastern Pennsylvania, the region where Pittston is found, has a problem with illegal immigrants of Hispanic descent migrating to the area. This is a direct attack on people of that culture.

Although he does have a right to say what he wants, I think this is going a little too far. Anyone agree?

It also should be mentioned that the original decal he had on his truck had the word "You're" spelled "Your". He has changed it since then.
