Soon nerds on campus will have three more reasons to not leave their dorm rooms, Starcraft 2, Diablo 3, and World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King. Bizzard is set to unveil new details about all three games starting today at BlizzCon, at the Anaheim Convention Center. The three upcoming releases will be spotlighted, and it’s unlikely any new projects will be announced. What to expect? We can only speculate:
Starcraft 2: Blizzard isn’t exactly fond of what you call “release dates” so unless we’re really lucky this project status will likely remain TBD, or at best, the “second half of 2010” or something similarly far away and vague. But I can hear the sound of five million South Koreans swooning from here.
Wrath of the Lich King: The expansion has been thoroughly vetted at this point, so we probably wont be hearing anything new. Maybe another planned expansion could be vaguely hinted at? I wouldn’t expect much more than that.
Diablo 3: This what convention goers are really chomping at the bit for ever since it was announced that there was going to be a playable demo at Blizzcon. The new color-drenched design has spawned a massive backlash from fans, but they might quiet down once they see it in action. But I doubt it. Also rumored are some new class announcements. They better bring the Necromancer back or I swear to God…
Look for more updates here as the show begins later today.
UPDATE: Gameplay video with new Wizard class.
