Forget the William Penn Curse, Collegian Jinxes Phillies by Themselves
Since UPenn seems to be MIA these days, it looks like it's up to the blog from Central Pennsylvania to fill you in with your Philadelphia Phillies coverage. And oh, what coverage we've got. Not only are the Penn State students representing by wearing their Phillies gear this week, but our own Daily Collegian is trying to jinx the team before the playoffs even start. 14 years between playoff appearances wasn't enough for you people?

On Monday, The Collegian ran a column by Kevin Doran about the Phillies finally making it to the playoffs. Nothing wrong with that. Oh, except that the headline read "I Can't Believe the Phils made World Series."

Wh-wh-what?! Looks like some copy editors aren't reading the articles clearly. The Phillies only made the playoffs, not the World Series.

In hopes of sparing Phillies fans any more of a jinx, The Collegian ran another column on Tuesday by Joseph Dolan praying to the baseball gods to forgive them of their error.

So in about 30 minutes we'll see just how much of an effect The Collegian had on the Phils. If they win, not big deal. If they lose ... ? Get that copy editor to a safe location.
