Friendly Reminder: People Can Read The Stuff You Put On Facebook
OK, this didn't happen at Penn State, but still a pretty interesting story.

No one ever said college athletes were the smartest people in the world. They tend to do some pretty stupid things from time to time. You know, like masturbating in the library. But this story has to rank up there with the all time dumbest moves, using Facebook to find someone to help you cheat in a class.

According to The Buffalo News, Andy Robinson, the leading scorer for the University at Buffalo men's basketball team was suspended from the team for attempting to solicit someone to write a paper for one of his classes. But he didn't just ask someone in the class, or one of his friends. No, he sent a message on Facebook. The message read:

"I am paying anybody who have read the book "there are no children here' by Alex Kotlowitz $30-40 which in some classes you have to read at UB (even more money if you have to read the book a little more!!) to write a 3-4 page paper, on a couple questions which was assigned."

That's sad. You mean to tell me I could be making $10 a page writing papers for people? What's wrong with me?

Anyway, Robinson's Facebook page was removed (seems kinda harsh) and he finished the paper on his own like a big boy. He also released the following apology in a statement through the university:

"I realize I made a mistake for which I take full responsibility and realize I must regain the trust of my teammates, fellow student-athletes and coaching staff ... I have brought disappointment in myself and the university and for this I am truly sorry."

By the way, Robinson was dimed out by one of his "friends" on Facebook who forwarded the info to UB's student newspaper. The lesson here is that if any of your friends message you about questionable material on Facebook you should immediately e-mail me. Oh and feel free to be my, ahem, friend!
