Go Bears, in a Very Tiny Way

Go Bears, in a Very Tiny Way
Yes, they can spell "Cal," but can they dance?

Let's just get this straight: Nerds are awesome. No matter how much crap they get for being socially awkward, fashionably inept, and carrying around too much stuff in their backpacks, they make Berkeley what it is. They also make this.

In case you were wondering, those are individual cells--"The tiniest living Cal fans," according to the professor in charge of the project--tagged with modified sugars and arranged to show Cal spirit--all in less than one millimeter of a microscope slide. Cal band has some competition?

The blue and red cartoon cells are demonstrations of different tagging techniques. The blue cells have DNA tags to attach to capture DNA and are kept on the slide, while the red  cells are washed away. Science geeks can be snarky too!
