Halloween in August?

I think I've seen this one before

Halloween released in late August... what? Doesn't seem right, does it? If a director has a chance for the most cliche release date, you'd think he would take it. Instead, Rob Zombie decides he wants Halloween to falter in the box office and become just a side note to October 31st release Saw IV.

But any informed movie-goer should be excited about this release, because having Rob Zombie as the director means blood, guts, gore and tits; and that's what made all the old horror movies so great. Zombie also promised that this would not simply be a remake, but a completely new take on the cult classic.

Zombie definitely has a different take on Halloween, as some scenes are completely different, including the opening sequence (backstory that lasts about 45 minutes). Zombie attempts to develop Michael's character and give him a reason to be the most sadistic killer in movie history, and scarier to walk up to on the street than Maurice Clarett.

Overall the movie is alright. Halloween gets bonus points for bringing back Jamie from Halloween 4/5 to prove that we were right that she would be really hot when she grows up.

Overall Rating: 6 / 10
