So it turns out the few of us who write for the Penn State portion of CollegeOTR aren't the only bloggers associated with PSU. Nope, there's another more famous person (or at least son of a famous person) blogging in Happy Valley. Yup Jay Paterno, son of JoePa (oh, and the football team's quarterback coach) has his own blog on Barack Obama's website. Because that's who I want to get my political knowledge from - the guy who coached Anthony Morelli.
I told you months ago that JayPa was supporting Obama, which was kind of a big deal considering Joe is about as Republican as they come. In fact, when Obama spoke to about 20,000 people on Old Main lawn earlier in the year Jay was one of the people to introduce him (along with his Sue Paterno, which was odd). So it's no surprise that Jay would be doing something like this, but after taking a look at the blog ... Jay, keep your day job. Actually no, don't keep that job either.
Take this post for example, "blah blah blah, McCain sucks," "blah blah Obama will create jobs." BORING! I don't care Jay Paterno, I don't care. Look, take it from me this blogging thing isn't that hard. All you need to do is steal some information from a credible news source, make some witty comments and then create some stupid Photoshop image. Done, there's your blog.
But there are some real pearls of wisdom from Jay in this post, as he tries to bring the world of sports into the world of politics. Jay points out that the NBA Finals had begun (the post is from June 6) and mentions the injury to Boston Celtics forward Paul Pierce during game one. After being literally carted off the court, Pierce came back about 30 seconds later seemingly fine. So, of course Jay compares Barack Obama to Paul Pierce:
"Our guy Senator Obama has been knocked down all primary season and keeps coming back and hitting big shots, playing great defense and winning promaries. He's won the conference finals and now moves onto the finals--and we are all on his team."
Really Jay? Really? First of all I'm just going to ignore the fact that Jay said Obama keeps winning "promaries" since I make spelling errors from time to time too (actually I guess I didn't ignore it, did I?). But comparing what he's done to what Paul Pierce did just diminishes anything Obama did. Stay away from the Obama/basketball comparisons, unless you're referring to this photo of course.
So, are you sure you want this guy on your team Barack? Although, if you win in November can you appoint him to some random post in Washington, or Alaska or Europe or something. It will do wonders for our football team I'm sure.

Why would he want them to grow up in a Socialist country?
Are his children unable to take care of themselves and need a nanny government to hand feed them?
He needs to get a real job and find out what it is like to work for a living only to have the government take 40% of his earnings and give it to someone else. Obama want to take even more of our hard earned wages and give to his political friends to buy more votes. Posted 06/19/2008 4:12 PMReply
