Please forgive us for yet another football related post. But really, what the hell else is going on around here lately? And plus, any story about Joe Paterno behind the wheel of a car is comedy gold.
Anyway, an internet rumor has been going around since the weekend about Joe Paterno being involved in a "road rage" incident on campus last Friday. The rumor stemmed from a post on message board which goes on to say "The driver gets out and starts screaming obscenities at the woman (who was driving), flipping both middle fingers and repeatedly saying 'do you know who I am!'." The poster explains that the double-middle-finger-flipping driver was actually Joe Paterno. Duh-duh-duh.
Sounds ridiculous right? But the story seemed to get some traction on Monday when the CDT reported that a "road rage incident" occurred at "12:10 p.m. Friday along Bigler Road near the Food Science Building."
Today, laschout.com is confirming that one of the people involved in Friday's incident was indeed the octogenarian football coach. However, laschout's source is saying that Paterno was confronting a driver that he thought was driving erratically, and almost caused an accident. "Paterno, upon witnessing the near accident, confronted the woman driving the car to make her aware that he witnessed the incident and that he was taking down her license plate number. The source claims the encounter between Paterno and the motorist was both brief and civil."
OK, that answers that. What about the double-barrel middle finger though? We totally buy that happening.
