UPenn or Penn State students, please tell me someone was there to hear this enormous slip of the tongue.
At a stump speech in Pennsylvania today, McCain had this to say:
"You and I together will confront the $10 trillion debt the federal government has run up and balance the federal budget by the end of my term in office," he said. "Across this country, this is the agenda I have set before my fellow prisoners and the same standards of clarity and candor must now be applied to my opponent."
The crowd was noticeably silent after the line, which McCain expected would be greeted with enthusiastic applause. And if you look carefully, you can almost see Sarah Palin agree with the statement. Of course.
But what happened? Calling voters “my fellow prisoners” is no minor flub.
Was it a horrible flashback to his time at the Hanoi Hilton as a prisoner of war?
Was it a product of his senility?
Or was it evidence of some diabolical plan he has for America?
You decide.
