Now in the Associated Press article, the writer said Paterno "laughed at his own joke," after he made the "10 to 15 years" comment. Well, guess what kiddo, he ain't joking. I think the man really thinks he will be coaching for another 15 years. Yikes!
Anyway, Paterno, like any rational human being in the country with an interest in college football, says that a playoff system is the only true way to select a champion and he thinks teams "ought to win it on the field." But the big complaint about a playoff system is that it would extend the season and cause players to miss more days in class. But as Paterno points out, that doesn't stop college basketball.
"You can talk about missing class and all that kind of stuff, [yet] you see basketball go on forever. You have a lot of bogus excuses, but obviously the majority of people who have the say don't want it," Paterno said.
You forgot to mention the money part Joe. It's all about the money.
