PSU Vice President for Student Affairs Resigns, Students Yawn
Embattled vice president for student affairs, Vicky Triponey announced her immediate resignation tonight to the surprise of many. In a prepared statement released by the University, Triponey says she's taking a "much-needed (and hopefully well-deserved!) sabbatical so that I can explore fully where my life journey may take me beyond Happy Valley.” Good luck with that Vick.

As with most things that don't involve alcohol, sex or football, most students couldn't care less about Triponey or anyone else involved with the University at that level. But, some have spent a lot of time and energy making Triponey an issue, and repeatedly calling for her resignation. Safeguard Old State had been keeping everyone up-to-date with all things Triponey including their "Triponey Watch Blog." Their regular attacks on the VP, probably had a hand in her resignation, although it's doubtful she would admit as much. On their website they call her resignation a "huge win for student rights and student traditions at Penn State."

Perhaps the most famous incident in Triponey's tenure was the issue of funding for the PSU student-run radio station, The Lion 90.7. At the time, the Office of Student Affairs cut the entire budget of the station - $25,000 in all.

On their site, SOS says Triponey informed the station at the time "that her office would terminate all funding for the station unless her office were given direct control of it, both financially and content-wise."

And so we say farewell to Vicky Triponey, and good luck with that "recharge." Although what the hell is Safeguard Old State going to write about now?UPUA? Yea, students don't really care about that either.
