PSU's Olympic Star: Swimmer Gains Bid to represent Lebanon

During his first two years at Penn State, Basil Kaaki has reached new heights as a member of the men's swim team. He'd had his eyes on the NCAA championship all season, but after a stellar performance at the world championships, he'll have something to be even more excited about: the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.
At the FINA World Championships in Manchester, Great Britain, Kaaki broke five national records for his native country of Lebanon. He also qualified to go to the Olympics, something that hasn't been done by a Penn State swimmer since 2004. Kaaki follows in the footsteps of his older brother, who also competed in 2004. His stroke of choice? Freestyle.
The swimmer competed against 600 other athletes that represented 100 different nations, this being his fifth time at the world championships. If you watch the Olympics this summer (or if you're lucky enough to go as a spectator or athlete), keep an eye out for your fellow classmate and cheer him on.
