This Is Why I Never Leave The Country

This Is Why I Never Leave The Country
UPDATE: The video from Action News is up now.

So a friend filled me in on a news report on the Philadelphia ABC affiliate of a fire last night in building two of the Best Western Playa Suites in Acapulco, Mexico. Clearly there were at least some Penn State students there since Penn State junior Devon Herrick was quoted in the "Action News" piece. Why do I feel like this is a story being blown out of proportion?

The 6ABC story says a fire started around 4a.m. in the fifth floor laundry room in the hotel and quotes Herrick as saying "There was smoke billowing out uncontrollably." So from what I can gather, the fire wasn't that large, but there was a definitely smoke problem and everyone was evacuated. A Boston station is also saying that students were not allowed back into the hotel to get their belongings.

A New Hampshire TV station says the smoke in some rooms was so thick they couldn't find the door, and "some of the students in the hotel were forced to use bed sheets to climb over a balcony." Ok, maybe this is a bigger problem then I thought.

Well, maybe I didn't have as much fun as you did on the sandy beaches of Acapulco, but guess what - no fires. And doesn't that really make a good spring break ... no fires.

If you want unedited info on the fire you can visit the message boards on tripadvisor.com here and here. It's a lot of third and fourth hand info, so don't take everything as fact.

I blame Paranormal State.

They had a demon on their last show that said it would blight all the State with fire and brimstone.
