It's like every day things get worse for the Penn State football squad. It's like they forgot this is Penn State. Look, the weather has been hot lately, but this is not Miami, get it straight folks. JoePa is probably turning in his grave. What? He's alive?
First we start with the apartment fight over the summer, which safety Anthony Scirrotto and defensive lineman Chris Baker still have to go to court over, and which lead to the team cleaning the stadium after each home game. Then we get tight end Andrew Quarless and backup defensive back Willie Harriott getting underage drinking violations right before the start of the season. And they're drunk on wine no less. WINE!
Now, in less than a week, the entire team went crazy. We have running back Austin Scott who is apparently off the team for good, and may be in SERIOUS legal trouble, then punter Ryan Breen and tailback Joe Suhey, both freshman who haven't played a game, get underage citations over the weekend. Breen, why are you so stupid? You're a punter for god's sake, the team doesn't even really need you.
And now we get word that the team may have been involved in yet another fight. According to the Big Ten Network of all places, "coach Joe Paterno said Tuesday that he was looking into the possibility that some Nittany Lions may have been involved in a fight."
The fight mentioned seems to be an altercation which was mentioned in a Collegian news brief today. According to the brief, about 10 people were involved in the fight which took place at the Heritage Hall in the HUB-Robeson Center at the end of an Alpha Phi Alpha party, at about 1:50am Sunday.
Ironically this is after this quote from co-captain Dan Conner:
"I think it's just a wake-up call that we've got to watch what we do on and off the field, and all eyes are on us. You know you can't make any mistakes."
Who's going to be the first with the "State Penn" joke?
