Ashanti Comes To Disappoint

Ashanti Comes To Disappoint

Every semester, Quinnipiac dishes out thousands of dollars to lure in great talent to serve as their students’ entertainment for a night. In the past few years, the Bobcats have been graced with performances from Jason Mraz, The Cartel, Yellowcard and T-Pain. Each semester is meant to top the prior semester with a bigger and better act based on popularity and musical talent. But this semester, it seems like all the good acts have been taken because we got stuck withAshanti.

For the children of the 90’s [freshmen] who might not know who Ashanti is – she was the R&B princess of Murder Inc. Records. The record label is best known for housing big forgotten names like Ja Rule, Irv Gotti and oddly enough, Vanessa Carlton.

The concert tickets were being sold for $10 a pop to watch this fallen star attempt to regain her popularity on the stage of small Northeastern school. But fret not Fall Concert patrons, your $10 will be reimbursed as the concert has just been made free. So not only was poor little Ashanti forced to perform for a disillusioned crowd, she will now be performing for free. Ouch, Quinnipiac, ouch!

Accompanying Ashanti is The Audition, a small artsy-fartsy indie band specifically picked for the small niche of hipsters on campus.
