Fitz A Singing Sensation

Fitz A Singing Sensation
Northwestern Head Football Coach Pat Fitzgerald will sing "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" tonight at the Cubs-Phillies game tonight at Wrigley Field. Fitz becomes a part of the seventh-inning tradition that has included virtually every important celebrity of the past few decades.

As long as Fitz doesn't pull a Jeff Gordon and call it "Wrigley Stadium," he'll be fine.

Since becoming head coach (after last year's untimely death of Randy Walker), Fitz has worked very hard to raise the profile of Northwestern sports in the Chicago area. The city is clearly a pro sports town, but NU is the only major-conference team in the area and should be the city's team. The Big Ten Network raises the profile of the conference as a whole, and the recruiting should skyrocket in an athlete-rich city.

Getting blue chip kids to stay home would be a major sports coup for Fitz and the Wildcats.
