For those of you who haven't heard, an apartment building at Highland Hills caught fire on Monday, killing one person whose name has not yet been released and injuring two, Kristin Elizabeth Pietrowicz and Susan Thorne.

Much concern has been made over the fact that the apartment building was grandfathered out of Carrboro's fire safety codes, freeing the landlord from having to install sprinklers.

As seen in the photo above, the fire was so large that it melted cars in the in building's parking lot. It has also displaced at least twenty of the building's residents.
