Our overlords at Comcast have reportedly agreed to add the network to the cable system in the eight states where Big Ten schools exist. So get ready for that big Murray State vs Indiana contest, it's gonna be a barn burner.

According to various reports, Comcast and the Big Ten Network are very close to signing a deal that will put the channel on a preview basis for this season then add the network to their tiered (and more expensive) packages after the football and basketball season. This means if you want the BTN after this season you're going to need to subscribe to Comcast's digital service. Although BTN would like to see the network available all over the country, it will only be available in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.

One of the nice things about having BTN on Comcast is that features of the network will be available on Comcast's video-on-demand, meaning you could potentially watch portions of games whenever you want.

But after football and basketball season, is there any reason you're going to want to watch BTN? Unlikely. Let's look at their lineup for tonight: a replay of last year's Ohio State at Michigan football game at 7, Ohio State: Year in Review at 9, then a replay of Ohio State: Year in Review at 9:30 and the 2003 Fiesta Bowl featuring Ohio State vs Miami at 10.
