Von's comics now has some competition. 

For those of you who utilize the internet for entertainment, such as movies (Netflix) or music (iTunes or any number of torrent sites), Marvel Comics has recently announced they will be offering comic books online.

What does this mean for Purdue's dormant comic scene?  Free initial downloads and a low monthly subscription fee could spell decreased profits for the handful of stores in Lafayette and West Lafayette that carry comics.  Fanboys across campus might not marvel at the initial selection, but can continue living in their caves and avoid human interaction that much easier. 

Will the service catch on?  Based on current movie adaptation figures, probably not.
