It's a Race! Purdue Puts The Speed of Text Message And E-mail To The Test
Which is faster? Sending a text message to 10,000 recipients, or sending an e-mail to 50,000?

The race was on Monday as Purdue conducted its first emergency notification test. The system has been in the works for several months as a result of "recent highly publicized events."

The e-mails and texts were both sent out at 11:25 a.m. Monday morning.

So who won?

Observe:

The e-mail only took three minutes, while the text message took nine.

Of course, this is only one set of results, but it seems like Purdue was right about its new e-mail technology that is "able to send campuswide emails in 10 minutes."

Technology is a great thing. Now keeping in touch with the University is just a message away.
