Love Fro-Yo? Go to Phileo

Without a doubt, frozen yogurt is an integral part of Penn’s culture. Well, maybe there isn’t a huge line of frat guys waiting outside Marathon for fat-free froyo, but girls love the type of dessert that makes you feel like you’re being healthy when you really aren’t. Fact of life.

So for any female (or male – don’t be embarrassed) lovers of frozen yogurt, checking out Phileo Frozen Yogurt on 4th and South is a must.

A hybrid (or, arguably, a rip-off) of L.A.’s PinkBerry and New York’s 16 Handles, Phileo is a fish out of water on a street full of sleazy costume stores and guys on motorcycles who would be happy to offer you a ride while you’re waiting for a cab.

The yogurt place has the clean, bright, slightly-anime décor made famous by PinkBerry, but there’s a twist – like 16 Handles, it’s “buffet style,” meaning that you will end up eating ten times as much frozen yogurt as you normally would.

After grabbing a bowl that’s the size of a bathtub, you start at the frozen yogurt machines, which are extremely fun to operate and offer a ton of funky flavors like peanut brittle and banana.

Then you slide down cafeteria-style to an array of chocolate, candy, fruit, cereal, and other deliciousness that you can pile on top of your probably-already-heaping bowl of frozen yogurt.

Phileo is actually not as expensive as I thought it would be. Though it’s $.049 per oz, which definitely can add up, you should be good to go as long as you don’t stick five chocolate bars and an entire banana on top of your yogurt.
