There were several stories to choose from today, and since three related to the Mid-East, here’s a brief little overview of each of them.

Katherine Lester from Gilford, MI finally broke up with her 20 year old Myspace.com Palestinian boyfriend. She had created news two years ago as a 16 year old sneaking off to Tel Aviv to visit her internet buddy. She was detained in Jordan by US authorities and sent home. Abdullah Jinzawi was harshly dumped on Dr. Phil via satellite and accused Katherine’s family of brainwashing her.

Last night at the Rackham Amphitheater Joel Kovel, the author of “Overcoming Zionism” spoke. The release of his book in the University of Michigan Press caused a stir among pro-Israel organizations and students. Let the freedom of speech vs. minority sensitivity debate begin!

President Bush announced that there was an agreement on the framework towards future peace talks between Israel and Palestine. It’s kind of sad when the setting up of an appointment for the future to discuss peace is a breakthrough. It seems baby steps are necessary when dealing with this ongoing turmoil. Hopefully the two sides can finally agree to two peaceful independent states, but the pessimist inside of me is scoffing.
