And We're Off!

And We're Off!
Our tag-along compadre behind the wheelCrammed in the back, with a pillow and a road atlasWe found Pennsylvanian roads rather boring. No use for sunglasses on a rainy day.
The back of the truck is a little crammed, due to a surprise third companion who decided to hop on board for the strip of road to Washington, DC. He’s taking a week-long architecture class in the city and thought he might as well bum a ride down and hang with some friends. He has the small task of finding a place to rest his head before we take off again tomorrow night.

We got off this morning with relative ease despite leaving much later than planned. Three A.M came too quickly and there was still too much to pack. But road trips are about letting it all go. So with the music pumping, the windows down, and the air blowing in our faces, all the world feels good.

The first stop is my former school stomping grounds, American University in Washington D.C.  A has never been to D.C. so we’ll spend the day on the National Mall, scrambling around the monuments and checking out the White House. I also have some favorite spots I want to show A and the tag-along architect, while making sure to hit the streets in Georgetown with some former trackies from AU. And of course we can’t come to DC and not meet up with some of the International Justice Mission crew. Should be some mad hopping from one place to the next. Bring on the people and let the good times roll!
