Boston University Men's Soccer Team Settles for a Draw Against UConn

Last Sunday, the Boston University Terriers squared off against the UConn Huskies in a non-conference men’s soccer match, but after two overtimes, both teams remained scoreless.

For the struggling Boston team (0-2-1), however, a draw is an impressive feat, especially when one considers the fact that the UConn Huskies are currently undefeated and ranked third in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America poll.

For his ironclad defensive performance, BU senior Hrafn Davidsson, the Terriers’ goalie, earned the title of “American East Player of the Week.”

The Boston University Athletics page has the scoop:

Davidsson made four saves to hold the Huskies' offense, which ranked eighth in the nation last season and features the reigning Hermann Trophy winner, off the scoreboard for the first time this season.

It was the seventh career shutout for Davidsson, who holds a 0.99 career goals-against average. The Reykjavik, Iceland, native has an .808 career save percentage as well, placing him among BU's all-time leaders in both categories.

Congratulations to Davidsson for his achievement!

Hopefully, the offensive line follows suit by actually scoring points, because defense can’t win games alone and draws can only take a team so far.
