Gawker Media editor, Maureen Tkacik, better known as "Moe," has decided to switch gears and join the Radar team starting in August. Moe has served as the Features Editor for Gawker's Jezebel since its very beginning 14 months ago. As senior writer for Radar, Moe will have a wider selection of topics to choose from--'Pop, Politics, Scandal, and Style'--a complete turnaround from the 'Celebrity, Sex, and Fashion' stories featured on the female-driven Jezebel; because we all know that politics and scandal doesn't exist in the celebrity world. Nevertheless, Moe will move in a new direction--tackling stories with more substance (and wit), focusing on the likes of Bill O'Reilly instead of Dina Lohan and Brooke Hogan.

Despite a blossoming career with Gawker this past year, Moe has not always worked in the pop culture industry. While at the University of Pennsylvania in the late 1990s, Moe contributed to the university paper, The Daily Pennsylvanian, writing reports on city shootings and homicides. She then scored an internship with Philadelphia magazine which led to an eventual position as a writer. Additionally, her work has appeared in a number of publications, including the Wall Street Journal, Time magazine, Philadelphia Daily News, and the New York Times.

Radar has the cat in the bag with this one. In addition to Moe's extensive resume as a journalist, she has a considerable reader following that plans to remain loyal despite her career move. Needless to say, Radar is more than happy with their decision.
